Moving Fun

We finally got to move into our new house on May 4, 2012.  It had been a long process to get there but it was worth it for more space and a shorter commute. 

 

We had a May the Fourth party that night in our empty house with a lot of friends.  We watched Star Wars, ate Star Wars themed food and played Star Wars games.  We also took advantage of the extra man-power and got the PODS unloaded. 

 

The next few days brought a lot of cleaning, unpacking and organizing. 

 

After we got the inside taken care of Ben had to tackle the backyard. 

Luckily, we didn't lose anyone in the grass for too long.  

 

Tiki Tiki Tembo

The first grade at Wells Elementary does and opera called Tiki Tiki Tembo every year.  The kids try out for parts, help make the set and their own costumes.  This year Owen got to participate and he really seemed to enjoy being part of the cast.  I was surprised at how williing all the kids seemed to participate.  Everyone seemed to have a really good time.

 

 

 

 

The performances were during the day and so Guss was in class.  He did get to see the performance another time. 

 

 

 

 

Life in a Beach House

If you are going to live in a beach house in the winter this was the best winter to do it.  It was a very mild winter and we got to enjoy walking to the beach almost every week.

 With the warm temps came alot of rain instead of snow and we found out the hard way that the beach house had a few significant leaks.  The owners decided to fix it before the summer renters came and so we got to live in a construction zone for a few weeks.  It made for cold nights and mornings but we all lived.

Ninja Princess

You may not recognize this ninja princess but it is actually Chloe in disguise. 

 

She used the Barbie makeup kit she got for Christmas to go undercover.

Easter

Coloring easter eggs with the kids.

 

Guss decided to be a party pooper and play Wii instead of coloring eggs.

 

Lucas needed a little help waking up on Easter morning.

Guss easily found some eggs but finding his basket was more of a challenge.  It was hidden in one of the lower cupboard in this picture and it really frustrated him that he couldn't find it as easily as the others found theirs. 

 

The Easter Bunny couldn't fool Owen with the old egg-on-a-picture-frame trick.

 

Chloe used her shirt to carry her eggs until she finally found her basket.

 

After all the eggs and baskets were found it was time to put on their new Easter clothes and head off to church.

 

 

Chloe loved her hat and Lucas loved his new tie but the boys were not thrilled with their suspenders. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Happy Birthday, Guss!!!

This year Guss made it into the double digits.  He has been around a whole decade and we have loved every minute of it.  This year the only thing he wanted to do for his birthday was have his friend, Gavin, come over for the afternoon.  We were able to make it work and after school Gavin came over and spent the rest of the day with Guss. 

 

Guss loves books, video games, Star Wars, Legos, math and his family.  We love Guss right back and are excited to see what the future brings.

  

Pinewood Derby Time

It is Pinewood Derby time again.  This year Ben and Guss started the car early this year because Ben was working the midnight shift and there was a lot of over time at work and most of his tools were still packed in the PODS.  Guss wanted a Bullet Bill car, thanks to he and Owen's Wii obsession.  Ben and Guss worked hard and got nice car in the end. 

They even got special tires to blend into the flames on the back.

In the end Guss came in Second with the scouts. 

The Achievement Day Girls also got to race and Grace's car was the fastest car of the night.

 

After the Derby came the Blue and Gold.  Guss moved up in rank and was able to lead the pack in the Scout Oath.
